MINUTES OF GSA MEETING
HELD THURSDAY 8 NOVEMBER 2007

2. Agreement to minutes to previous meeting:-
Correction to minutes under Treasurer’s Report:-
Morag Kophamel advised that existing funds stood at £3,780 with £2,500 remaining following allocation of money for chairs as previously agreed.
Karen Freeman and Claire Hitchmough confirmed their agreement to the minutes.
3. Matters Arising
Toby had prepared a structured agenda and proposed this format be followed for future meetings.
The suggestion was made that future minutes could be distributed by email. Lindsay proposed they be posted on the school website. All agreed this was a good idea. Sue to email minutes to school for insertion, and copy to Toby. Copies will also be placed in the letter slots outside the school office.

Morag suggested “Past Events” be added to agenda before “Future Events”.
4. Chair’s Report
Toby welcomed all present in his capacity as newly appointed Chair.

5. Treasurer’s Report
Bank balance will stand at approximately £1,000 following committal of funds at last meeting.
6. School Representative’s Comments
Morag was present as a school representative. Nothing was requested at this meeting.
Morag advised she or any representative could use this time at future meetings to propose questions and gather parents’ opinions on various school matters.
7. Future Events
Gift Evening
Date booked of 22 November 2007. Doors open at 7.30pm for 8.00pm start.
Some raffle prizes were brought to the meeting.
Toby, Morag, Claire and Sarah will be in school early on the evening.
Disco
Sue confirmed R Disco’s had been booked. Cost will be £70.00.
Sue advised Lisa Madden has organised all food but would require slow cookers on the night. Those who have them agreed to bring one along.
Pauline to buy mixed flavour juices. Morag suggested also serving cups of water for a minimal charge of, say, 5p.
Sue to check sweets stock and buy more, together with polystyrene cups, plastic cups and straws.
Jackie, Lindsay & Sue to cover both infant and junior disco’s.
Morag requested some committee members be present in the hall during the junior disco as parent attendance will be optional.

Coffee Morning
Toby thanked Laila for a very successful coffee morning last week. Attendees had asked that another be held before the Christmas break. Date proposed of 13 December 2007. Any suggestions for content would be gratefully accepted by Laila.
Christmas Fayre
Morag advised that toiletry donations from non-uniform day had improved. Lisa is preparing gift and prize packages from those received.
Jackie confirmed her willingness to help with the grotto. Laila to bring fabrics from home and to work with Jackie over decorating the grotto area. Jackie suggested a small Christmas tree be put inside and Morag offered one from school office.
Preparations to take place on the Friday before after 2pm, with the school being open from 9.00am on the day of the fayre. Each helper to finalise their own stall on the day and help tidy up afterwards.
Toby advised he had not visited any local shops as yet to request donations.
Val Martingell preparing a list of those local shops and business who have often donated gifts/prizes in the past.
Morag still to speak with Natalie’s Mum re a Christmas cake.
Morag advised Christmas Raffle tickets had been printed and were ready for collating into envelopes for distribution to parents by pupils. Some committee members each took several to sort into sets of 5 per pupil/family. Prepared envelopes to be returned to school by 15th November.
Lindsay suggested committee night out take place in January rather than during the busy Christmas period. All agreed this was a good idea. Date and venue to be decided at the next GSA meeting in January.
Bounce for Books to take place in February as usual.

All members to bring a dozen mince pies to school in time for the Christmas Fayre.
Toby to speak with Morag over requests on Friday letters.
